Almoataz Y. Abdelaziz received the B. Sc. and M. Sc. degrees in electrical engineering from Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt in 1985, 1990 respectively and the Ph. D. degree in electrical engineering according to the channel system between Ain Shams University, Egypt and Brunel University, England in 1996. He is currently a professor of electrical power engineering in Ain Shams University. Dr. Abdelaziz is a senior editor of Ain Shams Engineering Journal, editor of Electric Power Components & Systems Journal, member of editorial board and a reviewer of technical papers in several international journals and conferences. He is also a member in IEEE, IET and the Egyptian Sub-Committees of IEC and CIGRE.

Dr. Abdelaziz has been awarded many prizes for distinct researches and for international publishing from Ain Shams University, Egypt. Dr. Abdelaziz has authored or co-authored more than 160 refereed journal & conference papers and 10 books in his research areas which include the applications of artificial intelligence to power systems and new evolutionary & heuristic optimization techniques in power system operation, planning and control.

Donatella Privitera is a economic geography researcher at University of Catania (Italy) with a M.S. degree in Agri-business (1999) earned at the Catholic University of Milan. Prior to becoming a full-time academic, she has had work experience in a multinational company in marketing area. At present she is teaching geography with a speciality in tourism and regional development. She is a member of Italian Geographic Society (SGI) and Association of Italian Geography (AGEI). She has presented paper at several conferences, published in international books and mainly associated with her research in the following areas: transport geography and sustainable mobility; sustainable cities; regional marketing; rural development and its implications for tourism. She has participated in EU project HERODOT- INTERREG IIIB and she is participating in cooperative national research projects.
