He received his PhD in Applied Mathematics from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) in 2010, after receiving a bachelor's (SJTU) degree in Mathematics (along with a second bachelor's at SJTU through the English Department). From 2010 to 2014, he held postdoc positions at University of Texas at San Antonio, Singapore University of Technology and Design, and Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
